5th Annual USA/Canada Leo Leadership Forum

Written by Leo Nicole

This summer, six members from the El Capitan High School Leo Club and the Merced High School Leo Club had the opportunity of attending the 5th annual USA/Canada Leadership Forum in Visalia, California. In a span of four days, we connected with Leos and Lions all the way from New York, Los Angeles, Canada, and even the Caribbean! Through leadership seminars, we learned valuable skills and community service ideas that we can implement into our own Leo Club. We attended classes about public speaking, delegation, the art of recognition, needs assessment for community projects, as well as conflict resolution. We also had the honor of meeting the Lions Club International President, Brian Sheehan, and Immediate Past Lions Club International President, Douglas X. Alexander, and listen to their stories of why they became a Lion.

This trip would not have been possible without the support of the Merced Breakfast Lions Club, District Governor Douglas Campbell, District Leo Chairperson Gabrielle McKechnie, and of course, our club advisor, Gary Eno. We are looking forward to attending next year’s forum in Chicago, Illinois!
