The Month of Love
We must learn to appreciate what we already have and not constantly ask for more. In order to extend our love and compassion, our Leo club volunteered to cook a special meal for the homeless shelter. Inspired from the notable Lady and Tramp scene, the El Capitan High School Leos cooked spaghetti and meatballs, prepared a fresh mixed greens salad with tomatoes and cocktail cucumbers, toasted garlic bread, and bought heart shaped sugar cookies. It was a lovely opportunity being able to show the homeless that the whole entire community cares about them.
Merced High School’s Leo Club decided to host a virtual Valentines bonding night, where all the Leo members in Merced were invited to partake. With lots of planning from El Capitan, Golden Valley, and Merced High Leo board members, the 3 hour long bonding night was replete with various games including Bingo and Love Tunes, activities, and special prizes. All the members had a spectacular time meeting each other; the love, happiness, and smiles in everyone’s face at the end of the day was memorable!
In addition, all the Leo clubs are participating in the CA Lions Care Food Collection Drive this month, where we are collecting non-perishable foods to donate to local food banks. The entire goal of this project is to collect over 150,000 pounds of food, so we are doing our part to achieve this.
